River of Tears 2020
Art installation at Swoon Art House
2021
Sorrow has bled over our lands in rivers of shed tears. Communities have been forced to confront loss in unforeseen and unpredictable ways. River of Tears is an emotionally charged installation of blue light emanating through the darkness. Rebecca Solnit writes in A Field Guide to Getting Lost, blue is the light wave that gets lost, it scatters among the water and the sky. Blue is often a color that represents distance and evokes longing. The installation is both a river of tears shed as it is a container holding the lives lost during this time. This public art piece is a beacon of hope and a piece of acknowledgement for all who have fought through trouble and loss during the pandemic.
